Why humans can't hibernate By Jack Martin

Have you ever wondered about why humans can’t hibernate? Well I certainly have, if animals can do it why can’t we? Well of course we can’t but if we could there would be many technological and industrial advances. For instance space exploration could advance because there would be no strain on the body at all from radiation. Astronauts have to exercise about six hours a day but with hibernation they wouldn’t have to do any of the exercise. “Hibernation could be a literal lifesaver.” says BBC
Hibernating has the potential to change lives. As in the case of space travel people would be able to go on much longer trips and they would not have to bring as much food supplies which would lead to longer trips which would lead to more planets and galaxies and stars being discovered.
This would be a huge, the whole world would feel the effect on this. So many things could be found out and discovered by this. And if people could hibernate they would be incredibly more safe because they couldn’t hurt themselves from falling or other personal injuries.  “We know that the survival rates in hibernation are close to 100%” says BBC.
I am very intrigued by the subject of hibernating for someone or something to be asleep for so long. I think it would be a great help to society. Even though it is not possible now I think with the technological advances it may be possible in a few years. Even though people may not think it is possible I do.

  1. Wow. This is sooo cool. If humans were to hybernate, what would houses be for? Why would we have wood stoves? Even though we can't hybernate, its a really interesting topic to research.

  2. True! If we could hibernate, there would be many breakthroughs in space. But it would make humans much less strong as we went through evolution.

  3. This is probably the most interesting topic I have read yet. I have also wondered why humans cant hibernate. I like how you said that if we could hibernate, how much it would benefit us. Why can we not hibernate?

  4. That really interesting I thought only animals could do that. So does that mean once scientists create a system to allow people to hibernate, could that be a cure for cancer? Since it said that it would help prevent personal injuries.

  5. This is a really interesting topic. I can't believe in a couple years we might be able to hibernate. It would lead to many breakthroughs in space travel, and expand the range of human expertise. This topic reminds me cryonics, which also may be possible in the future but is now science fiction.

  6. I have never thought that in the next few years people may be able to hibernate. It would be so amazing to be able to hibernate, it could lead to so many more fantastic inventions, maybe even a cure to cancer, because it could help prevent personal injuries.

  9. I never thought much about hibernating but now that I think about it this could realy change the world. I wonder though if we were hibernating would we be able to make space ships? Because we would be sleeping and that takes time. But it could help a lot with space travel. I realy think this is cool. I like how you thought outside the box to choose a cool topic like this nice job!

  10. I had never really thought about the possibility of hibernating until I read this. I had no idea this was even something people were trying to do! However, I think that if we did try to hibernate in space, how would they astronauts wake up? Overall, I am very intrigued by this topic. Well done!

  12. WOW thats super cool. If this does happen your right it will help for travel. And i liked how you said about how it will help to discover planets and galaxies. I really hope that scientists can invent something
that lets us do that because it will let us discover so much more. And open up more possibilities!

  13. Very interesting, humans hibernating!
I wonder when they will find a way to do that it would be amazing and help a lot of people

  15. Thats so cool to think that humans could hibernate and be able to not eat anything for a long time and not have to excessive all the time. Nice Job

  16. This is cool to think about humans hibernating! I never thought of the idea of humans hibernating and it would be very interesting to see how that could turn out. Very good job using evidence and direct quotes.
